A stormwater management system is an infrastructure system which collects and conveys runoff from development areas to detention pond(s) which provides water quality treatment and restricts water flow. A control structure is utilized to regulate the discharge of runoff.

Tips for Maintaining Our Natural Resources
  • Never dump anything down storm drains or stormwater ponds
  • Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly*
  • Properly dispose of pet waste
  • Control soil erosion by planting over bare spots in landscape
  • Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of using a hose to discharge to the street
  • Properly dispose of yard waste
  • Properly dispose of hazardous household chemicals
  • Direct downspouts away from paved surfaces
  • Check car for oil leaks

*Fertilizers should not be applied to impervious surfaces and should not be applied within 10 feet from the top back of any surface water, stormwater pond, wetland or seawall.
