At the Manatee Board of County Commissioners' Regular Meeting on January 28, 2025, the Commissioners announced a proclamation to show its support for the annual Black History Month celebration, which dates back to 1926.

Some of the regional and virtual events and programs celebrating Black History Month include the following:

State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) 
Plan a visit to the Family Heritage House Museum which maintains various displays, starting with African heritage, moving to American experiences in slavery, fights for freedom, histories of community building and education, the Harlem Renaissance, Civil Rights, Kwanzaa and a return to Africa with free elections in South Africa.
