MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Nov. 27, 2019) – Manatee County is accepting applications for four soon-to-be-vacant positions to serve on the Animal Services Advisory Board, a seven-person panel which makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on domestic animal policy.
Three of the seats are for vacancies that will open January 27:
- Two seats for citizens who are either corporate officers of, or have written authorization to represent, existing non-profit organizations, agencies or voluntary associations within the County with a primary mission of the care, handling or rescue of domestic animals. As to this category, no one organization, agency or association may have more than one representative holding one of these three representative seats at any given time.
- One seat for a citizen with expertise in business development, finance and/or operations.
One seat is for a vacancy that will open March 9:
- A citizen who does not fall within the foregoing categories, who is not associated with an existing rescue agency, and who, within two years prior to appointment, has volunteered for Manatee County Animal Services or an established private rescue agency within the County for at least ten days, as verified by the relevant agency.
All appointments are for four-year terms.
Meetings are typically held the fourth Tuesday of the month or as determined by the Advisory Board at a 5:45 pm at Manatee County Animal Services, 305 25th St. W., Palmetto. All meetings are publicly noticed.
