MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Oct. 4, 2018) – Manatee County is accepting applications for two seats on the Construction Trades Board, a volunteer panel that regulates and licenses local contractors.
The Construction Trades Board also disciplines contractors who violate local codes, state statutes or Florida Building Code provisions pertaining to licensed contractors. The board also may suspend or revoke contractor licenses and impose monetary fines.
The first seat is open to a certified commercial swimming pool contractor with at least five years of experience in the construction trade, who also holds an active license as a Certified General Contractor with Department of Business and Professional Regulation or who is registered with an active Certificate of Competency license in Manatee County. Applicants must reside or have a business located in unincorporated Manatee County.
The second seat is open to a local contractor with at least five years of experience in the construction trade, who also holds an active license as a Certified General Contractor with Department of Business and Professional Regulation or who is registered with an active Certificate of Competency license in Manatee County. Applicants must reside or have a business located in unincorporated Manatee County.
The third seat is a consumer representative, available to any Manatee County resident who is not, and has never been, a member or practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession.

The group meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the First Floor Chambers of Manatee County Administrative Building, 1112 Manatee Ave West, Bradenton.
