MANATEE COUNTY, FL (May 6, 2019) – Manatee County will commemorate National Economic Development Week, May 6-11, with a County Commission proclamation, open house and downtown exhibit.
“We are excited that Manatee County will participate in the 2019 National Economic Development Week," said Manatee County Economic Development Official Karen Stewart. "This will be the fourth time we have participated, and this year’s activities are better than ever.”
County Commissioners will adopt an Economic Development Week proclamation during a regular meeting on May 7 in the first floor chambers of Manatee County Administration Building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
Later that morning, the County's Redevelopment and Economic Opportunity Department will host an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Administration Building.
From May 6-11, visitors will also see the impact of economic development as part of an exhibit in the lobby of the Admin Building.
Since 2009, Manatee County’s Economic Development program has incentivized over 6,000 high wage paying jobs representing $2 billion in wages and projected capital investment by companies of over $600 million.
Manatee County's celebration fo Economic Development Week is in collaboration with partners such as Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation (BAEDC), Port Manatee, Manatee Chamber, Manasota Black Chamber, Spark Growth, Station 2 Innovation, Gulf Coast Latin Chamber, Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance, CareerSource Suncoast, and local universities and state colleges.
Now in its fourth year, National Economic Development Week was created in 2016 by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, to recognize the unique role that economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies. More than 250 communities participated in the 2018 campaign across the U.S. and Canada.
