Florida Senate President Galvano taps Manatee County Commissioners Benac, Whitmore for state advisory board appointments
MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Sept. 6, 2019) – Two Manatee County Commissioners have been appointed to state advisory councils by Florida Senate President Bill Galvano.
This week President Galvano informed Commissioner Carol Whitmore that she has been appointed as a member of the Department of Elderly Affairs Advisory Council for a three-year term that begins immediately. Galvano also notified Commissioner Betsy Benac that she has been appointed as a member of the Florida Greenways and Trails Council for a term that expires in 2021.
"When I was in nursing school I had to give baths to seniors with a paper towel at local nursing homes, and it was then that I vowed to do something to one day help the elderly," Whitmore says. "That's why this appointment is very special for me."
"I am very pleased to serve on the Council as Greenways and Trails are an excellent way to experience our beautiful State and get exercise at the same time," added Commissioner Benac.
In letters to the two Commissioners, President Galvano thanked them both for their "willingness to serve on behalf of the Florida Senate."
