MANATEE COUNTY, FL (April 1, 2019) — During April Manatee County Veterans Services takes its annual veterans seminar to the community, and County Government reps will work with community partners to begin a yearlong awareness campaign leading up to next year's U.S. Census count.

The veterans seminar will take place on throughout April, similar to years past. This year, instead of the seminars being held in the County Commission Chambers, each week will be held at a different branch of the Manatee County Public Library System. Seminar topics include VA disability compensation, low-income & long term pensions, burial benefits, local healthcare options. The seminar schedule can be found on the County's website.

Also in April Manatee County will begin a yearlong campaign to notify the public of next year's U.S. Census count by working with local partners on a "Make Manatee Count" campaign. The information gathered by the Census Bureau helps to determine reapportionment of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as state and local government funding.

Manatee County will use social media and the Next Door app to give local residents notice of the importance of being counted in 2020.

In addition to the veterans seminar series, the Census kickoff and a month full of social media posts on County Government-related services and statistics, Manatee County Public Library System will host the the Recycled Dreams Teen Fashion Show, on Saturday, April 6, from 1 - 3 p.m. at Downtown Central Library as part of National Library Week.
