MANATEE COUNTY, FL (January 31, 2024) – Manatee County Animal Welfare (MCAW) is drawing from reality television for a new way to match adoptable pups with fur-ever homes.
Inspired by the drama and excitement of the dating show The Bachelor, the "Barkelor" Dog Adoption Event is set to take place at Rocky Bluff Library, located at 6750 US Highway 301 North, Ellenton, on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 12 to 3 p.m.
Animal lovers will have the chance to meet the most eligible dogs from Manatee County Animal Welfare—loyal companions, vying for love and attention, just like contestants awaiting that coveted red rose. A Barkelor-themed photo booth will be available to capture some special moments.
Presented by Manatee Library and Manatee County Animal Welfare, the event is open to everyone—singles, families and dog lovers alike.
“This is a great opportunity to have some fun with some of our favorite furry friends,” said Manatee County Commission Chair Mike Rahn. “It’s just one of the many animal-centric initiatives ongoing in our Animal Welfare world.”
Adoption fees will be waived for this event. All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. Manatee County residents adopting a pet will be required to purchase an annual County pet license for $20, which can be obtained by going to mymanatee.org/petlicense.
