MANATEE COUNTY, FL (March 15, 2024) - High-profile public projects and important infrastructure initiatives will benefit from recent federal funding commitments. The U.S. Senate and House membership have voted to advance a $460 billion spending package which includes more than $12 billion in earmarks.
U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) highlighted these projects for Manatee County that were included in the spending package:
- $3 million for the design work associated with the Fort Hamer Bridge project.
- $1 million to help plan, design, permit and construct a multi-modal regional trail segment of the Florida Gulf Coast Trail, which connects Hillsborough and Sarasota Counties.
- $2.9 million to help complete the planning and design work for permitting and construction of a gateway greenway in Lincoln Park in Palmetto.
- $3.5 million for early planning and design work associated with the 51st Street West Expansion project.
“This is wonderful news for our community,” said Manatee County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Chair Mike Rahn. “We appreciate Congressman Buchanan’s support and understanding of how important this funding is to our residents and visitors.”
