MANATEE COUNTY, FL (January 25, 2024) – The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is continuing their funding of important initiatives across the county, including Public Safety, Recreation and Support Services.
During the regular BOCC Meeting Tuesday (January 23, 2024), Commissioners approved several important funding initiatives, including $2,245,000 with bond proceeds from the 2023 Revenue Improvement Bonds for the construction of Braden River Park Baseball Field Improvements.
Also approved was a transfer of $688,986 to purchase a new Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance and associated medical supplies to be fully functional for the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division in Parrish.
“With the growth in our area, this added resource will help provide enhanced coverage and response to our community,” said Manatee County District 1 Commissioner James Satcher.
Two more ALS ambulances were approved for purchase using half-cent surtax monies at a cost of $688,986 each. An additional $2,500,000 has been earmarked for equipping the Moccasin Wallow EMS station with a fuel site. The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is receiving funding for a new boat storage facility at Ft. Hamer and a fleet facility fuel site at Port Manatee.
Finally, the board approved the transfer of $11,240,000 to fund the purchase of the Crooked River Ranch Property as approved during their December 12, 2023, meeting.
