MANATEE COUNTY, FL (October 26, 2023) – Work to install permanent pipe supports for a water main along the Manatee Avenue (SR 64) Bridge over Anna Maria Sound will require periodic lane closures and periods of one-way traffic on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
This one-day closure is expected to be active between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., allowing crews to complete the last phase of this repair. The contractor is working primarily from the water, rather than from the road base, to alleviate most motorist impacts, but this single-day lane shutdown is necessary to complete this part of the operation. Due to safety concerns, the work is not possible at night. Motorists who want to avoid the work zone should consider accessing Anna Maria Island via the Cortez Bridge on November 1.
