MANATEE COUNTY, FL (Aug. 13, 2024) – The Manatee Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is continuing to fund important community programs and facilities through budget measures approved today.
Commissioners approved a $4 million GMP (Guaranteed Maximum Price) for the new Hidden Harbor Park in Parrish. This park project (to be located on the north side of Ft. Hamer Rd. across from the Ft. Hamer Park) will include updated landscaping, irrigation, utilities, roads, parking lot, pavilions, electrical service, restrooms, observation pier with boardwalk, sidewalks, ADA-compliant playground with safety surfacing, volleyball courts, skate park, kayak launch facility, exotic plant removal and stormwater ponds.
The board also voted to support continued funding for $85,775 in FY 2024-25 for Operation Warrior Resolution which provides specialized mental health treatment for vets and their families suffering mental health challenges.
Manatee County Natural Resources staff presented a comprehensive list of ongoing oyster restoration projects that the BOCC has been supporting. With over $4.6 million in grant funding and an additional $263,000 in leveraged funding, Manatee County’s substantial investments in restoring habitat provides measurable benefits to recreation, sport and commercial fishing, and storm resilience for our coastlines.
